This syrup lasts a long time in your fridge. Add a dash to iced-coffee or a hipster bourbon cocktail; make your own soda by adding it to seltzer, or drizzle over fresh fruit. Use this same recipe, and swap the spice: star anise, cloves, Chinese Five Spice, Szechuan Pepper, or Chai Tea... Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

½ teaspoon ground cardamom

Directions:

1.Combine sugar and water in a saucepan, and stir until sugar is dissolved.

2.Add cardamom, and bring mixture to a boil.

3.Let mixture sit and steep for about an hour.

4.Strain syrup into a clean mason jar.

Keeps almost indefinitely in your fridge.
